WIMER, Ore. — A new list of dams and other structures that block fish passage and should be fixed or removed should be adopted in a meeting Friday.
The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission is scheduled to meet as state law requires the list to be updated every five years. The new list has 534 structures and includes a high-priority “top ten” group considered the worst impediments.
One of the structures on the last top ten list is the Gold Ray Dam on the Rogue River, which has since come down.
According to the Medford Mail Tribune, two smaller dams along Evans Creek in Jackson County are scheduled to be listed in the top-10 group.
A biologist says both are abandoned and should come out.
