The Oregon Tech Owls basketball teams concluded their final road trip of the season last weekend and control their own destinies heading into this weekend’s final regular season games at Danny Miles Court.
The men’s basketball team needs to win one game to secure at least eighth place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings and a playoff spot for the conference tournament. Entering the weekend, OIT and Corban are tied at 5-11, two games ahead of ninth-place Northwest Christian. The Owls play NCU on Friday and if OIT wins, it eliminates Northwest Christian from the postseason.
On the women’s side, Oregon Tech and Warner Pacific will get home games in the CCC Tournament first round, coming into this weekend three games ahead of fifth-place Southern Oregon with only two games left. The top four finishers get at least one home game.
OIT and Warner Pac have each won a game against the other this season, so should both win out this weekend, Warner Pacific would claim the third seed based on a better record against conference opponents with a winning record. Oregon Tech fans should be optimistic, however, since Warner Pacific’s opponents this weekend have a combined 29-3 conference record whereas OIT’s opponents are 11-21.
