MEDFORD, Ore. — A judge in Jackson County, who told a serial child molester he’ll “rot in prison,” has been sanctioned by the Oregon Supreme Court.

Judge Tim Barnack told the man, Richard L. Taylor, that community members wondered why he wasn’t hanging from a tree. The incident happened in January.

Judge Barnack’s behavior was determined a violation of the Oregon Code of Judicial Conduct. He says he regrets his comments and accepts the censure. There will be no fines or fees stemming from the decision and Judge Barnack will not have any limitations put on his duties.

In October 2011, Taylor was found guilty of 21 counts related to child sex abuse and was sentenced to life on each count.
