KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Rocky Mountain Construction LLC has paid a fine after committing an emissions discharge violation.

The Klamath Falls-based company paid $1,500 to the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality for the violation at an asphalt plant it owns. Based on its air quality permit, the plan must stay within strict levels of air contaminants. It failed two compliance tests – one in Sept. 2009 and another last August. DEQ said in a release the plant took corrective actions, but still did not meet federal emissions standards.

In addition to the fine, the company will face stricter testing this year.
