PORTLAND, Ore. — A Seattle-bound airliner made a successful emergency landing after its pilot lost consciousness Thursday night.
The co-pilot of Flight 473 touched down in Portland after its pilot lost consciousness “somewhere over Oregon,” Alaska Airlines spokesperson Paul McElroy said.
The plane originated from Los Angeles headed for Seattle.
McElroy said the crew on-board requested an emergency to get priority care for the pilot, who later regained consciousness and received medical attention from a doctor on board in the plane’s cabin.
The pilot’s name was not released. He was taken to a hospital and there was no immediate word on his condition..
McElroy says the pilot has been flying for Alaska for 28 years and was current on his six-month medical evaluation.
