Things are lot more interesting in the Skyline Conference going into Friday night’s Klamath Union at Mazama basketball doubleheader (5:50 p.m. – 960 the Sports Legend).

The Mazama boys beat Henley 55-48 on Jan. 18 to finish the first half of league play 4-1. Since, the Vikings have lost two in a row and are now tied with Klamath Union for second place. Mazama won the first game between the two 64-49.

The Mazama girls (17-2; 7-0 Skyline Conference) have a secure hold on the Skyline Conference, holding a No. 2 state ranking. Phoenix and Klamath Union are tied at 4-3 in second place.

Cascade Collegiate Conference

The Oregon Tech Owls are idle Friday, awaiting a trip to Ashland on Saturday to face Southern Oregon (5:15 p.m. – 960 the Sports Legend).

The Lady Owls are third in the Cascade Collegiate Conference and beat SOU 100-82 last month in Klamath Falls. Southern Oregon is currently in sixth place in the CCC.

The Oregon Tech men’s basketball team has lost to SOU twice so far, including a 74-63 defeat at Danny Miles Court. SOU is 8-5, tied with College of Idaho for the final home game spot in the CCC Tournament, while OIT has a 1.5-game lead over Northwest Christian for the final conference playoff slot.
