KU leads Basin teams at Medford meet

MEDFORD, Ore. — The Klamath Union boys and girls swim teams led the Basin entrants at last weekend’s Medford YMCA Invitational meet.

The KU boys followed Skyline foe Phoenix and North Medford for a third place finish. Marich Sikes placed first in the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle. In the 100 butterfly, Alex Willrett won ahead of Phoenix’s Justin Peery. Willrett and Sikes joined Lucas Crebbin and Caleb Adkisson to finish first in the 400 freestyle relay.

Mazama picked up 13 team points.

The Klamath Union girls were third as well, finishing behind North Medford and Phoenix. There were no KU individual or team medley winners, but Melissa Britsch finished second in the 200 individual medley and Taylor Willrett was runner-up in the 50 freestyle. 

Mazama’s Megan Cushman earned silver in the 100 freestyle.
