Oregon Tech men run away for win over New Hope



KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — A 17-2 run helped Oregon Tech pull away from New Hope Christian for an 86-62 win at Danny Miles Court.

Mihajlo Matic scored a three-pointer to help Oregon Tech build a 25-10 lead, but New Hope did close the lead to as few as six in the second half before the Owls pulled away.

The win improved Oregon Tech to 9-4 on the year in the team’s first game since Dec. 1. OIT hosts College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon on Friday and Saturday, respectively (92-5 KLAD, 7 p.m. both nights).

David Clarke and Josh Wiseman led the Owls with 15 points apiece. Matic finished with 12 and Josh Johnson scored 11 points. Johnson was 3 for 3 form the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line. 

Oregon Tech finished with 27 assists and only turned it over nine times. New Hope (4-12) had 15 giveaways to 11 assists. Drew Wiley led New Hope with 19 points to go with Tarance Glyn’s 15 points and 16 rebounds.
