There is a grand opening ceremony Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for an education center named for photographer Dave Menke.
According to a release, Menke’s photography is credited for helping make the Klamath Basin a birders’ destination and, before his death, Menke had worked to convert a 1940s building into an environmental education center. Menke died in April 2011.
Hallie Rasmussen, who took over Menke’s duties, says the new center is a positive thing for the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuges Complex as a whole.
Where: Dave Menke Environmental Education Center, Tulelake
When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17
