BONANZA, Ore. — The Klamath County Sheriff says autopsies conducted on two still-unidentified men whose bodies were found on an abandoned ranch in southern Oregon show gunshot wounds killed both men.
Sheriff Tim Evinger said late Tuesday that the Oregon State Police crime lab continues trying to identify the men found Oct. 18 near Bonanza.
The sheriff has said the discovery of a burned-out truck several weeks ago leads detectives to believe the men may be 38-year-old Ricardo Jauregui of Oakley, Calif., and 32-year-old Everardo Mendez-Ceja of Richmond, Calif.
The truck found six miles from the location of the bodies belongs to Jauregui. Mendez-Ceja’s family reported him overdue, telling authorities he went to Bonanza to buy hay and a horse.
The Klamath County Major Crime Team continues to investigate.
