Potatoes are an important Klamath Basin crop. Important enough to have their own festival. With the harvest season wrapping up in the Basin, the town of Merrill is getting ready for the five-day Potato Festival starting Thursday.
Greg Matthews with the Klamath Basin Potato Festival says the festival started in 1937, but took two years off in World War II.
Saturday’s highlights include the spud run, a parade, a free BBQ, and a new attraction is hospital bed racing.
