Weather encouraging campers, but fire restrictions remain

It is Discovery Season throughout Oregon. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is encouraging the public to enjoy the above-average temperatures at a state park campground with reduced rates.

From October through April, RV and tent campsites are reduced by $4 per night, starting at $16 and $13 respectively. Campsites during Discovery Season are also easier to come by, so if camping wasn’t on your agenda heading into a weekend, the parks department says it is easier to make a spur of the moment decision.

Still, fire restrictions are still in place throughout much of Oregon. Campfires are still only allowed in designated campgrounds and backyard burning, smoking and off-road driving are prohibited. Anyone making an illegal fire could be cited and liable for fire suppression costs. Fire season remains in effect until significant precipitation occurs.
