GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A smaller fire on the banks of the Rogue Rivers is now 80 percent contained.

The containment estimate of the Grave Creek Fire came around 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning by a southwest Oregon fire organization.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports that rafters were temporarily stopped from putting on the river Monday, while helicopters were dipping water out of the river.

But it was back to business as usual on Tuesday, with rafters sharing the Grave Creek boat ramp with water trucks filling up.

Hikers in the area are still needing an escort to go through the fire area. The Oregon Department of Forestry says the human-caused fire has burned 26 acres on the north side of the river a half mile downstream from the Grave Creek boat ramp.
