PORTLAND, Ore. — The state’s minimum wage is going up to $8.95 an hour after an announcement from the State Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian Monday.

The 15-cent raise takes effect Jan. 1.

This year’s wage tracks a 1.7 percent increase in the Consumer Price Index since August 2011 and will place Oregon’s minimum 23 percent above the federal wage of $7.25 per hour.
