Former Mazama coach pleads guilty

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — A former Basin volleyball coach accused of having sex with an underage student pleaded guilty Tuesday in Klamath County Circuit Court and will spend the next two years in prison.

52-year-old Robert Lloyd Thompson pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree sex abuse regarding his sexual relationship with a 17-year-old Mazama High School girl while he was coaching the volleyball team.

NBC-2 reports Thompson used homes he was working on as a contractor to engage in this activity.

He will be required to register as a sex offender and will submit to three years of post-prison supervision.
