August motorcycle deaths highest since 1986

SALEM, Ore. — 13 people were killed in motorcycle-related crashes in Oregon last month – the most since 1986.

For the year, the Oregon Department of Transportation says there has been 34 motorcycle-related fatalities, which is just six shy of the state’s 2011 total.

ODOT attributes most of the crashes to driver errors such as speeding, improper cornering or impaired driving.
