Update: August 27, 2012 – 9:29 a.m.
The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office released a 12-hour pre-evacuation notice Monday morning to residents of Seiad Valley. The release emphasized residents have time to prepare for an evacuation, as the 12-hour update is to ensure those with large animals have them moved to the Siskiyou Golden State Fair Ground and that all packing is completed and loaded into vehicles.

YREKA, Calif. — A pre-evacuation notice has been issued for residents of Seiad Valley, California. The notice means a threat to private property is estimated to be 24 hours away and residents are urged to take precautions.
The notice was issued by the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office because of the Goff fire and an evacuation center will be established at the Siskiyou Golden Fair Ground on Fairlane Road in Yreka. If evacuation is necessary, it will include closure of the Seiad Creek Road.
