OIT volleyball opens weekend even

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The first weekend of Oregon Tech volleyball saw the Owls go an even 3-3.

Starting Friday at the Paul Elliott Invitational in Ashland, the OIT volleyballers were swept by Westminster and Viterbo before notching their first win against UC-Merced in a five-set battle on Saturday. OIT finished the tourney 1-3 after a loss to No. 5 Biola before playing at home on Monday and beating both Pacific Union College and New Hope Christian.

Senior Kristen Walters led the Owls with 2.5 kills per set, while Marie Baumann brought up over 4 digs per set. Baumann and Kara Young each put down 13 service aces in the opening six matches.

The Owls play at Simpson on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
