LAKEVIEW, Ore. — A new fire team was assigned Wednesday to the Barry Point Fire.

A national type 1 team is now in command of the nearly 60,000-acre fire which continued to push farther into California earlier this week, according to the National Incident Team 2 release.

Aircraft dropped water on the Modoc National Forest’s Crawder Flat Guard Station and the Willow Creek Ranch. There are dozer lines constructed around those two areas. The fire is burning east toward private land.

The team continues to list the fire at 25% contained and they are implementing plans to limit damage to heritage resources.
