At Big Springs Park in Bonanza, heat is on with the Oregon State Chili Cook-Off & Southern Oregon Regional Chili Cook-Off.

Bob Tyree with the Bonanza Volunteer Fire Department and a chili connoisseur says more than 20 world class chili cooks are going to serve up their best chili.

Chili lovers can purchase taster kits that start at $1. Along with the kit, there’s a people’s choice vote. The panel of judges will decide which cook will advance to qualify for the world championship cook-off. Tyree says the judging isn’t all about the heat.

Along with the chili cook-off, a homemade hobby festival, a car show and children’s art festival are set for the two-day event.
