MILWAUKIE, Ore. — Following a failed attempt to attract the Yakima Bears from the Northwest League, the city of Milwaukie is now considering the West Coast League.
The Bears chose Hillsboro, which approved a naming rights agreement on Tuesday night for its 4,500-seat stadium.
So Milwaukie is now going to scale back its stadium proposal to residents. Instead of a $25 million, 4,000-seat facility, the city will seek a $12 million, 2,000-seat stadium.
The council is expected to decide later this summer whether to ask voters to approve a construction bond.
The West Coast League earlier this year approved franchises in Medford and Victoria, B.C. There are nine teams in the league currently.
