Lakeview fire started by Sunday’s lightning

Trees Burning in Forest Fire

LAKEVIEW, Ore. — In Klamath and Lake Counties combined, fire crews continue battling 31 fires as of Tuesday afternoon including a lightning-sparked wildfire about 20 miles southwest of Lakeview.

The Berry Point Fire has grown to 1,500 acres on private lands as well as in the Fremont-Winema National Forest.

It grew quickly late Monday and Tuesday, aided by high temperatures, low humidity and lots of fuel.

Motorists are advised to avoid the Dog Lake area because of the increase in fire vehicle traffic.
