RICE HILL, Ore. — Oregon State Police is continuing the investigation into Wednesday afternoon’s single vehicle crash on Interstate 5 about two miles south of Rice Hill that seriously injured a Coquille-area man.
63-year-old Leo Ray McClure of Coquille overcorrected after drifting onto the inside lane gravel shoulder, which sent his vehicle across the southbound lanes. After hitting an embankment, his car went airborne and landed on its top.
The crash was witnessed by a North Douglas Fire Department captain. McClure was extricated and transported by ground ambulance to a secondary location where he was taken by LifeFlight to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. He is reportedly in critical condition.
