JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into Thursday night’s single vehicle fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of a 62-year old man along the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 about seven miles north of the Oregon-California border. The victim’s name is withheld pending completion of next of kin notifications.
According to Sergeant David Beck, on July 26, 2012 at approximately 11:09 p.m. a 2011 Ford Expedition traveling northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 7 when, for an unknown reason, its driver lost control and traveled off the roadway. The vehicle became airborne and came to rest on its passenger side.
The 62-year old operator was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not using safety restraints.
