KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – 960 the Sports Legend and Charter are proud to announce the Charter Student Athletes of the Month with the selection of winners from June 2012.
Lost River High School’s Nadia Hill and Greg Velasquez of the Klamath Falls Gems (Cal-State Fullerton) were selected and will receive a prize package and an invitation to appear on the Basin’s live, local sports talk show, Goofing Around at Lunch, on July 16.
Hill is a recent graduate of Lost River High School and qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals July 15-21 in Wyoming in two events during June’s Oregon High School Rodeo Association State Finals. Hill finished first in the breakaway rodeo event with 125 points while also placing third with Tucker Hill in team roping.
Velasquez is a sophomore at Cal-State Fullerton playing for the Klamath Falls Gems in the West Coast League. Since playing his first game June 18, he had a hit through every game he played in the month including four doubles and about a .400 on-base percentage. Velasquez had four hits and two RBI during a month-ending sweep of Kelowna at Kiger Stadium.
Each student is expected to receive a prize package from Charter during the July 16 edition of Goofing Around at Lunch.
