Central Point hires first woman police chief

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — The Central Point police have a new chief – and she’s the first woman to hold the position. Kris Allison will now run the department after starting as a patrol officer. At age 39, Allison was sworn in Thursday at City Hall. She teaches as an adjunt professor at Southern Oregon University where she graduated with a criminal justice degree. She’s also a Master’s degree holder from Boston University. She is a Central Point native.
