KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — On Thursday, the second-ever men’s soccer coach at the Oregon Institute of Technology was announced.

Matt Munhall takes over the program after former coach Bryan Mueller was fired.

Munhall was most recently an assistant at NCAA Div. II St. Anselm’s College in New Hampshire after being a goalie for Principia College.

The Oregon Tech program went 5-11-1 in 2011, including a 3-9-1 mark in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Munhall described his initial goal with the Owls.

With the poor conference mark, Munhall realizes a conference title in 2012 might be difficult, but says that is the direction he plans to take the program.

Oregon Tech was third in the CCC in shots last season, but fifth in points and goals. The team also allowed a league-worst 2.82 goals per game.
