WASHINGTON — Many Oregon counties have been struggling since timber payments expired last year. Now a one-year extension of the federal timber payments has been included in a transportation bill that has already received approval from bipartisan leadership in the House and Senate. Both chambers still have to vote on the bill, but if it’s approved it would pump $100 million into Oregon, according to a news release from Rep. Greg Walden’s office.
