KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –Head coach Jack Kegg announced recently the signing of four athletes to the cross country and track and field programs at Oregon Tech. Rachel Bostford (Mulino, Ore.), Heidi Gunderson (McKinleyville, Calif.), Sara Howard (Applegate, Calif.) and Brit March (Fort Jones, Calif.) will begin competing this fall.
Bostford, a transfer from Clackamas Community College, ran a 20:23 in the 5K, and will run the 400-meter race for the Owls in the spring where the junior has a best time of 59.82 coming in.
“Rachel is a great team person with college experience that will contribute in both cross country and the long sprints in track,” said Kegg.
Gunderson, competing at McKinleyville High School, clocks in in the 1500-meter race in 5:39.12 and 2:32.88 in the 800-meter event.
“Heidi adds great depth to our distance squad and shows great potential in both the cross country and the track program,” mentioned Kegg.
Howard, transferring in from American River Junior College, was the Northern California champion in cross country, while taking 5th in the California State Meet where the junior ran an 18:07 in the 5K event. In the steeplechase event Howard also placed 5th in the California JUCO ranks, timing in at 18:22.08.

March, a transfer from Shasta Junior College in Redding, Calif., placed 10th in the California Junior College championships in cross country with a 5k time of 19:42.
“Brit has been a part of a great Junior College team,” said Kegg, continuing. “She will give us some leadership in pack dynamics and with her work ethic and fun loving nature will make us a better team.”
