The Klamath Falls Gems begin the 2012 West Coast League season with a home games Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at Kiger Stadium.

There are many new faces this year, from head coach Josh Hogan and assistant head coach Billy Clontz to a roster of first year players. One is Washington State to Mount Hood Community College transfer sophomore Brandon Williams…

Some of the players met their host families for the first time on Thursday. Coach Aaron Nielsen has been helping with workouts this week in preparation for the season opener.

Not only is getting to know the field important, but Feather River Junior College freshman Chase Tokunaga knows learning his teammates is too.

First year player Seth Brown of Linn-Benton Community College has been in the workouts knowing the Gems need to set a good, early tone.

Brown is a Klamath Falls native, as is Oregon Tech freshman Aaron Bocchi. He’s helping his out-of-town teammates get the lay of the land.

The broadcast for this evening’s game is 6:30 p.m. for a 7:05 first pitch on 960 the Sports Legend.
