Josephine County lays off more than seventy workers

pink slip lay off

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — On Tuesday Josephine County voters said no to a levy fixing a $12 million budget gap created by the end of timber payments. And it didn’t take long for the layoffs to start. The Josephine County Sheriff laid off 70 deputies and civilian personnel yesterday. That will mean 90 inmates or so will be released from the jail over the next few weeks.
