Tulelake council members give salaries back

Scissors cutting money

TULELAKE, Calif. — Faced with an ongoing budget crisis, Tulelake City Council members have agreed to donate part of their monthly salaries back to the city. Each council member is paid $250 per month, and four of the five agreed to send $100 of that back to the city through December. Council member Ron Cantrall declined to accept reduced pay. Tulelake has used cutbacks to reduce its budget shortfall from $230,000 to $130,000.
