Douglas County Sheriff’s vehicle hit

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore.  – A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office vehicle was struck by another car Wednesday morning after the officer driving was making a u-turn to pursue a speeder. Deputy Charles Mapes was patrolling northbound Highway 38 when he began to make the u-turn and was hit by 20-year-old Heather McDonald’s Honda. Oregon State Police reports that McDonald was following the patrol car and was treated for minor injuries and released at a nearby hospital. Deputy Mapes was not injured.
