MERLIN, Ore. — The Klamath Union Pelicans held a one-game lead in the Skyline Conference baseball standings entering Saturday’s doubleheader with second-place North Valley. The Pelicans left the same way, following up a 1-0 defeat with a 2-0 victory.
The win moved KU to 10-2 in the Skyline Conference season with three games left to play.
KU lost to North Valley in the opener despite outhitting their opponent. Mark Owings was on the mound for that game.
KU plays Mazama on Tuesday (4:30 p.m. – 960 the Sports Legend) before a regular season-ending doubleheader at home with Hidden Valley on Saturday.
Mazama and Henley split on Friday. Mazama took game one 8-3 before Henley won 10-7 in the finale. Lakeview lost its eighth straight, 13-12 and 10-4 to St. Mary’s. Lost River had runs aplenty in 14-5 and 20-10 wins Saturday at Prospect.
Basin Softball Results
Henley softball won its 12th straight, sweeping Mazama Friday 9-4 and 6-5. The Hornets are 9-0 in Skyline play.
Chiloquin swept Bonanza 17-7 and 12-4. After losing 5-4, Lost River beat Prospect 6-3.
