KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech volleyball has added two new recruits for its 2012 campaign with the announcement of Portland’s Emily Doyle and California native Julie Pfeifer.
Doyle competed at Sunset High School, earning all-conference honors and was named to the 3rd team All-Metro team as a defensive specialist. She was also the starting libero for the Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy 18’s Gold Team.
“Emily sees the game before it happens,” said Corwin. “She extends rallies that should have ended. I have watched her turn the momentum in her team’s favor by making an impossible play look easy. Her competitiveness is off the charts.”
Doyle (pictured left above) will major in Medical Imaging Technology beginning this fall with a career as an Ultra-Sound Technician.
Pfeifer was a big part of her high school team’s undefeated conference schedule in 2011 and Division Four State Champ runner ups in 2011 and 2012. Pfeifer also participated twice in the Junior Olympic Tournament while playing for the Delta Valley Volleyball Club over the past 5 years.
“Julie introduced herself to us at our elite camp in 2011,” said Corwin. “We did not waste any time and signed her immediately. She has an impressive range of power from both pins that keep liberos on their toes. She has a great passion for the game, matched with an unquestioned work ethic.”
Pfeifer will major in Diagnostic Medical Sonography this fall.
Oregon Tech opens the 2012 campaign with four matches at the Southern Oregon University Paul Elliot Invitational beginning on August 17.
