LA GRANDE, Ore. — After clinching the Cascade Conference regular season title and securing hosting rights to this weekend’s CCC softball tournament, Oregon Tech’s Taylor Schmidt was named Pitcher of the Week by the league. Schmidt pitched to two wins in 14 innings of scoreless play against Concordia on Saturday and is one win away from tying the all-time OIT record for wins in a season by a pitcher. This is Schmidt’s third time winning the award.
The Owls are the top seed in this weekend’s Cascade Conference tournament at the OIT softball complex. The Owls will play the winner of Concordia and Corban Friday at 3 p.m. in a best of three series, with the winner getting the CCC’s automatic bid to the national tournament in mid May.
