High School Baseball: Mazama looks for season series

Teams on the opposite ends of the Skyline Conference meet today in Phoenix when Klamath Union travels to face the Pirates on the baseball field at 4:30 p.m. (960 the Sports Legend).

The Pelicans are 8-1 in league, one game ahead of North Valley. Phoenix has struggled to start the season, opening with a 0-9 league mark and in the middle of a 13-game losing streak. The Pirates were defeated by KU 20-1 and 10-0 last month in Klamath Falls.

Henley can make up ground with the Hidden Valley Mustangs today. The Hornets are 3-6, three games behind Hidden Valley for third place in the Skyline. The Mustangs beat Klamath Union for KU’s first league loss of the season last week, but split with Mazama in Klamath Falls Saturday. Henley has lost three straight, including a doubleheader with KU last weekend.

Mazama is at North Valley, having split in their first series last month. Mazama won 10-9 after losing 12-5.

The Lakeview Honkers are at Rogue River at 4:30 p.m. Lakeview trails Rogue by a half game in the Southern Cascade League standings, as the Honkers look to snap a four-game losing streak.

The Lost River Raiders look to stay perfect in the baseball standings, tangling with Bonanza. The Raiders won 8-5 in the last meeting and are 3-0 this season; Bonanza is 2-3.
