CALDWELL, Idaho — The Oregon Tech Owls softball team picked up a weekend sweep of both Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho to claim at least a share of the Cascade Conference title.
Cromie had an RBI and a double in the Saturday doubleheader with COI, giving Oregon Tech 2-0 and 10-1 wins. Cromie also had two RBI Friday at Eastern Oregon where OIT swept those two games 5-0 and 8-7, the latter in eight innings.
Pitcher Taylor Schmidt is now 21-4 this season. The Owls have a 2.5 game lead in the Cascade Conference entering the final series of the year, traveling to Portland for two with Concordia. OIT also has a pending resumption of a suspended game with Southern Oregon.
Baseball Postseason Chances Alive
After losing two to the University of British Columbia on Saturday, Oregon Tech baseball resumed the series in Vancouver Sunday, splitting with third-place UBC with a 6-4 victory. The Owls are 10-18 in league play now with one series to go – this weekend in Klamath Falls against Concordia.
OIT is two games behind Concordia with a four-game set at Kiger Stadium set to start at noon on Saturday.
