Lost River track and field places second in Bend



BEND, Ore. — Lost River’s 4 x 400 relay team won at Wednesday’s Summit junior varsity meet. Chava Cazarez, Frank Alonzo, Traegen Stradley and Cody Cox beat a Paisley quartet by 0.6 seconds.

The Raiders finished second behind Summit on both the boys and girls sides. Stradley was second in the 400 meters, as was Lost River’s 4 x 100 relay team of Mike Cooney, Tannor Stradley, Zach Swingle and Jake Cerri behind the winner Lakeview. Swingle was second in the high jump and long jump, as was Cerri in the triple jump and Josue Nieves in the discus.

Lost River was victorious in the girls 4 x 100 relay and the 4 x 400 relay, with Kristal Alonzo, Carley Brown, Megan Parks and Lindsey Barrows winning the latter. Brown also won the long jump by nearly a full foot. Alonzo was third in the 100 meters, Barrows third in the 400-meter race and Jennie Lowrie scored bronze in the discus. In pole vault, Katie Ingram finished third.

Lakeview’s Marco Giutron won the boys 300-meter hurdles, while Bryce Davis, Lane Roseberry, Lane Hadley and Pierce Schreder won the 4 x 100 relay. Roseberry was also the shot put and javelin champion, with Davis winning the long jump. Sophia Landau won the girls 200 and 400 meters.

Garrett Esteb won the 400 meters for Hosanna Christian and Elana Hampton was first in girls 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Eric Cooper scored points for Chiloquiin with a fifth place finish in the 3,000 meters, a race won by Paisley’s Jack O’Leary. Paisley also had the boys pole vault champ in Luke McKay. Anna Rose McKay won the girls triple jump for Paisley.

Triad’s Ovgard Earns Individual Honor

In Winston last weekend, Triad’s Gabe Ovgard was named the Outstanding Male Athlete with wins in the 100- and 200-meter runs. The Herald & News reports Ovgard was also tied for third in the high jump. Triad finished sixth as a team.
