KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – 960 the Sports Legend and Charter are proud to announce the Charter Student Athletes of the Month with the selection of winners from March 2012.
Henley’s Elle Morgan and Oregon Tech’s David Clarke were selected and will receive a prize package and an invitation to appear on the Basin’s live, local sports talk show, Goofing Around at Lunch, on Apr. 13.
Morgan is a senior on the Henley Hornets OSAA 4A Girls Basketball state championship team, bringing Henley its first state title since 1991. She received numerous postseason awards, including a 4A All-State First Team designation. In addition to being the Skyline Conference’s Player of the Year, Morgan also was the championship game’s player of the game. She earned All-Tournament Second Team honors, while consistently being an honor roll student. Morgan also is part of this spring’s Henley track and field team.
Clarke helped Oregon Tech capture its third NAIA Div. II Men’s Basketball National Championship in March, starting all 38 games for the Hustin’ Owls, scoring 10.1 points per game and ranking in the nation’s top 10 in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio. From beyond the three-point line, Clarke made over 43 percent, ranking him No. 14 in the NAIA. Clarke’s contribution to the Owls title run was crucial, especially on the defensive end and his nomination indicated Clarke was the largest snub from the tournament’s all-tournament team. This summer, he will continue contributing to the Klamath Falls community as the Public Relations and Communications Intern with the Klamath Falls Gems.
Each student is expected to receive a prize package from Charter and an Applebee’s gift certificate during the Apr. 13 edition of Goofing Around at Lunch at Applebee’s on Campus Drive in Klamath Falls.
The Charter Student Athletes of the Month are selected by 960 the Sports Legend from nominations by the community, athletic directors and/or knowledge of athletic achievements. Please send nominations for your selection to firstname.lastname@example.org.
