District Attorney expresses budget concerns

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – District Attorney Ed Caleb has expressed concern that the upcoming budget shortfall will cause big problems prosecuting domestic violence cases. A current grant that has helped prosecute those cases expires July 1, and the lack of funds will lay off the prosecutor that specializes in those cases. There is no money in the 2012-2013 county budget for that position. In 2010, that prosecutor handled 522 domestic violence cases. Caleb says he’ll request funds and hopes the position can be restored.
