KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – This Monday, April 2, personal-use firewood permits will be on sale at all Fremont-Winema National Forest offices. Forest officials stress that it is extremely important for firewood cutters to pay special attention to the terms and conditions of their permit. Motorized access is only allowed 300 feet off roads within areas where firewood cutting is permitted on the firewood cutting map.
Firewood permits can be purchased for $5 per cord with a minimum charge of $20 for any quantity less than four cords. A cord is the amount of split wood in a stack four feet wide by four feet high by eight feet in length. The maximum amount that may be purchased for personal-use firewood is eight cords per household per year.
