OIT Round-up: Track wins two titles


CHICO, Calif. – Katie Waugh and Kassi Conditt were winners for Oregon Tech track and field this weekend at the Wildcat Invitational in Chico. Waugh won the 800 meters in front of teammate Mary Matchett, while Conditt won the shotput and finished eighth in the discus.

Joelle Swanson earned a third place in the javelin (38.21m), with Alyssa Castle taking sixth in the 100 meter hurdles in 17.78 seconds.

Tech’s Jacob Murray was the top men’s finisher on the day with a time of 16.74 in the 110 hurdles.

Oregon Tech Baseball

Oregon Tech split a doubleheader with La Sierra, winning the second game 8-6 after losing the opener 3-1 at Harry & David Field in Medford.

OIT is now 13-17 and plays in Medford again Tuesday against Willamette.

Oregon Tech Softball

The Owls and Corban split the Cascade Conference opener in Medford. OIT won 6-5 on a Jess Plummer walk-off home run following Corban’s 2-1 victory in the opening game. Taylor Schmidt struck out 10 batters and allowed four hits, losing the first game before winning the second in relief. Ashleigh Larson hit a two-run home run in the second game.
