KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. – An estimated 500 to 700 bald eagles winter in the Klamath Basin, and the increased numbers are further evidence why the Oregon wildlife commission took bald eagles off the state endangered species list this month. The eagles were removed from the federal list in 2007. Back in 1978 the Oregonian reports there were just 65 nesting pairs.
