CORVALLIS, Ore. — Mazama fell three points short of a fourth place finish, losing to top-ranked Madras 52-49 in the OSAA 4A Girls Basketball State Championship consolation final.

A win would have given the Vikings its second straight fourth place trophy.

Karena Foust led Mazama with 13 points, while LeAnn Valenta added 11 points in her final game of high school.

Hannah Reynolds had 10 points, shooting 4-of-18 from the field, missing all four three-point attempts.

Madras, which came in the state’s top seed, lost in the first round to Philomath, but won its last two games to claim fourth. Abby Scott led White Buffaloes with 24 points.

Mazama finishes the year 24-7, while Madras accomplishes a 25-3 record.
