Banks exits Mazama from championship bracket



CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Mazama Vikings quest for a state title ended Wednesday when Banks won 44-33 in the OSAA 4A Girls Basketball State Championship quarterfinals.

The loss moves Mazama to the consolation bracket Thursday morning, while Banks will play Friday for a chance to be in Saturday’s state championship game.

Banks led 22-14 at the end of the first half, getting 14 points from Melissa Masters. As a team, Banks shot 43 percent from the field, limiting Mazama to just 22 percent.

Hannah Reynolds led the Vikings with 17 points, the Mazama player with more than six.
