Owls beat Northwest; await NAIA seed

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The Oregon Tech Owls men’s basketball team won a back-and-forth battle with Northwest 77-71 to claim the Cascade Conference title and a better seed in next week’s NAIA Div. II Men’s Basketball Championship.

Each team held at least an eight point lead, there was seven lead changes and five ties.

Northwest had its nine-point lead with 7:28 to play over Josh Johnson and the Owls.

Senior Bryant Sentman came in and hit his second three with 6:26 left to get OIT within four points.

The Owls finished a 9-0 run to tie the game, outscoring Northwest 11-5 the rest of the way to seal the victory.

The win completed a sweep of Northwest in three meetings, but Tuesday’s win was much more difficult than OIT’s 95-69 win earlier this month.

For Northwest, it will still be at the national tournament in Branson, but will have a worse seed than OIT. The Eagles remain winless in Klamath Falls.
