KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Basin-area high school basketball teams resume postseason tournaments Thursday night, with four Skyline playoff games.
For the girls, Phoenix is at top-seed Henley at 7:00 PM, while Klamath Union takes on No. 2 Mazama at the same time.
In the boys bracket, top-seeded North Valley hosts Mazama, while Klamath Union goes to Phoenix (960 the Sports Legend – Approx. 7:00 PM).
All four teams in each bracket have qualified for the state play-in round which starts late next week.
However, the Skyline tournament deteremines seeding, with the Thursday winners meeting Saturday at the lowest seed’s gym for the right to the league’s No. 1 spot. The losers also will play for the third and fourth seeds.
Even eliminated Skyline teams, like the Henley boys, can make the OSAA postseason, as there are five at-large bids. At the 4A level, one at-large spot goes automatically to a member of a special hybrid division – consisting of Crook County and Roosevelt High Schools.
Based on results through play Thursday, Henley would not qualify for an at-large, but could if a team ahead of it – Estacada, for example – loses some of its final regular season games.
