OIT basketball player found dead

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Institute of Technology released an e-mail to students, faculty and staff Wednesday afternoon informing that sophomore men’s basketball redshirt Nathanael Maddox passed away earlier this week.

A memorial service is planned on Monday at Hinson Church in Portland at 10:00 AM, Maddox’s hometown where he attended Cleveland High School.

Maddox played in 28 games for the Hustin’ Owls last season, averaging 7.5 minutes per game and scoring 2.5 points per game. He pulled down 56 rebounds during the season, playing with OIT at the NAIA National Championships in Branson, Mo.

Maddox was studying mechanical engineering at Oregon Tech. He was 20 years old.

The normal Wednesday night Oregon Tech Owls Coaches Show has been cancelled for tonight. Oregon Tech basketball finishes the regular season at Northwest Christian and Corban and is expected to attend the service Monday in Portland.
