LA GRANDE, Ore. — Oregon Tech’s Bobby Hunter, a 6-0 freshman guard from Reno, Nev., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
It is the third time this season Hunter has earned the award and the fourth Owls player overall, with Kyle Gomez winning once.
Hunter shot 20-of-29 from the floor, including 5-for-11 from behind the perimeter, to average 25 points and lift the Owls to a pair of CCC wins over Evergreen and eighth-ranked Northwest.
Friday, Hunter totaled 24 points in 25 minutes against Evergreen. He was 10-of-13 against the Geoducks. The following night, Hunter had 26 points in the matchup of top 10 teams against Northwest. He added six rebounds, four assists and three steals against the Eagles.
Warner Pacific College’s Chelsey Christensen, a 5-9 junior guard from West Linn, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, Corban’s Ryan Rodriguez, a sophomore from Riverside, Calif., has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week and College of Idaho’s Jesse Dodd, a junior first baseman from Eagle, Idaho, has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week.
